Manchester United have added Will Fish to their Europa League squad ahead of the quarter-final second leg with Granada.
Fish, 18, trained with the first-team on Tuesday and has been promoted to the European squad due to the absences of several centre-backs.
United are without suspended trio Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay, while Eric Bailly tested positive for Covid-19 during international duty with the Ivory Coast and is unlikely to start against Granada.
Fellow centre-back Phil Jones has not played since January 2020 and has been sidelined since June with a knee injury. Teden Mengi is on loan at Derby County, so United lack cover at centre half. United can name 23 players in their Europa League matchday squads.
Manchester-born FIsh has started in 17 of the Under-23s’ 20 Premier League 2 matches this term and lined up in the recent FA Youth Cup defeat to Liverpool.
Victor Lindelof and Axel Tuanzebe are expected to line up at centre half for United, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back and Alex Telles the left-back.
Thirteen academy graduates have debuted for the first-team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since he was appointed the United manager in December 2018.
Shola Shoretire, 17, became United’s youngest European debutant in the round-of-32 second leg draw with Real Sociedad and Anthony Elanga, 18, was an unused substitute against Granada last week.
