What Manchester United players did after full time vs LASK

Some Manchester United players took part in a post-match training session at Old Trafford following the team’s victory over LASK Linz on Wednesday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side confirmed their place in the last eight of the Europa League after they came from behind to defeat their Austrian opponents 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Anthony Martial netted late on to secure a 7-1 victory on aggregate after Jesse Lingard struck earlier to cancel out a brilliant strike from LASK defender Philipp Wiesinger.

United will travel to Germany later this week ahead of facing Danish side FC Copenhagen in the quarter-finals on Monday night.

Solskjaer will be hoping to end his first full season in charge of United with some silverware, and he was quick to begin the preparations by making his first-team squad take part in an unorthodox training session after their win on Wednesday night.

Martial, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Andreas Pereira and James Garner remained on the Old Trafford pitch to take part in shooting drills, while Ethan Laird and Aaron Wan-Bissaka provided the crosses.

Speaking after the match Solskjaer praised his team for their efforts and explained why the first-half performance had been a bit rusty.

“We learned the players need to play to keep that sharpness,” he told BT Sport. “Some of these lads haven’t played for a while and it showed. We won, we gave a debut to a young lad, it’s been a good night.

“It is that sharpness you lack when you don’t play regularly, some haven’t played since lockdown, for me it was a good exercise, it’s job done, minutes under the belt and on to Copenhagen.”
