Jesse Lingard has delighted West Ham United fans by arriving at England training with a bag emblazoned with the club’s badge, and they believe it’s a hint he wants to return to London.
However, the 28-year-old proved all his doubters wrong with an excellent loan spell at West Ham for the latter half of this past season.
In just 16 games at the London Stadium, Lingard bagged nine goals and added a further five assists, reminding everyone he remains a quality player and fighting his way back into the England squad in the process.

The forward was selected in Gareth Southgate’s 33-man provisional squad ahead of this summer European Championships and seems likely to make the cut for the final 26 for the tournament.
England’s Instagram account captured Lingard arriving for training on Sunday and surprised West Ham fans by carrying a club branded plastic bag into training with him.
The Hammers faithful are desperate for Lingard to return to the club next season ahead of their continental adventure in the Europa League but his future remains in the air.
Lingard is now into the final year of his contract at Old Trafford but it’s not yet clear where he will be playing his football next season.
West Ham fans think that he has dropped a pretty big hint where he wants to be, though.
Fans aren’t alone in wanting Lingard back at West Ham next season, as manager David Moyes made it clear he wants to keep the player following the final game of the season.
“I hope Jesse’s here, we’d like to keep him, he’s done an exceptional job for us but there’s no guarantees, he’s not our player,” Moyes said.
“But I hope Jesse realises we’ve been good for him as well, and that he joined a club on the up.”
