Manchester United return to Premier League action on Saturday to take on West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.
United full-back Alex Telles is available for selection against the Baggies this weekend, with the Brazilian likely to start due to Luke Shaw being ruled out of action with a hamstring injury.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could also be without both Marcus Rashford and Victor Lindelof, with both players injury doubts with shoulder and back injuries, respectively. Phil Jones, Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo are all ruled out of this weekend’s game through injury too.
So, what will the final score be? And what team will Solskjaer go with against West Brom?
We used FIFA 21 to simulate the outcome of this weekend’s game.
United vs West Brom score predicted using FIFA 21
To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode within FIFA 21 but didn’t select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a prediction.
The AI difficulty was set to legendary, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions.
We predict that United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Tuanzebe, Maguire, Alex Telles; Fred, McTominay, Fernandes; Mata, Martial, Rashford.
We predict that West Brom could set up in a 5-4-1 formation, with the line-up as follows: Johnstone; Furlong, Ivanovic, Bartley, O’Shea, Townsend; Pereira, Gallagher, Livermore, Diangana; Grant.
FIFA 21 predicts a fairly straightforward win for United on Saturday, with Solskjaer’s side putting themselves in a strong position thanks to a stunning start from the home side.
After just four minutes, United took the lead through Martial, as the Frenchman rolled Ivanovic in the area before finishing past Johnstone into the near post.
And the forward was heavily involved in United’s second goal after just 14 minutes, with Martial fouled in the area by Livermore after beating him all ends up.
Bruno Fernandes stepped up and sent Johnstone the wrong way to make it 2-0 before the 15 minute mark.
Just before the half-time whistle, Fred could have made it 3-0, but Johnstone produced a good save to keep the score at 2-0 at the break.
United’s standard dropped significantly in the second-half because, despite having most of the ball, they were looking much less dangerous going forwards.
West Brom got a goal back with just 18 minutes of the game left, with striker Karlan Grant firing past David De Gea after a quick counter-attack from the away side.
Solskjaer introduced Nemanja Matic, which put United back in control and made them more solid in the final stages, with the Reds recording a 2-1 home win in our simulated game.
FIFA 21 predicted score: United 2-1 West Brom
Here are the full-time stats.
A quick start from United put them in control in the first-half of our simulated game, but a slow second-half allowed West Brom to grab a consolation goal.
In the end, it was closer than it should have been in our FIFA 21 game, what do you think the score will be on Saturday?
