We simulated Manchester United vs PSG to get a score forecast

3 min read

With Manchester United needing just a point to qualify for the Champions League last 16, they host Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday in Group H.

United take on PSG and RB Leipzig in their last two group games and need just one point to guarantee their progression from Group H, after their defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir last time out.

Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial and David De Gea are all likely to miss the game at Old Trafford, with Alex Telles, Edinson Cavani and Dean Henderson likely to take their place in the United starting XI, whilst the Reds star performer against PSG in their last game, Axel Tuanzebe, is suspended.

So, what lineup will Ole Gunnar Solskjaer go with on Wednesday against PSG? And, what will the final score be?

Ahead of the game, we used FIFA 21 to get a score prediction. This is what the game predicts.

United vs PSG vs score predicted using FIFA 21

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode within FIFA 21 but didn’t select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to legendary, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions.

We had United could set up in a 4-3-1-2 formation, with their line-up as follows: Henderson; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles; Fred, McTominay, Van de Beek; Fernandes; Rashford, Cavani.

We predict that PSG could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with the line-up as follows: Navas; Florenzi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Bakker; Veratti, Pereira, Herrera; Di Maria, Mbappe, Neymar.

In our simulated Champions League Group H game, Paris Saint-Germain started well and were 2-0 up within 15 minutes.

First, a brilliant run from Neymar on the left saw the Brazilian get to the byline, with the former Barcelona forward playing the ball across the box, where midfielder Marco Verratti was waiting to finish from the penalty spot.

It was 2-0 just 15 minutes in, with Neymar getting on the scoresheet himself, after running on to a pass from Kylian Mbappe, the striker stroked a finish past Dean Henderson to double the away side’s lead.

In the second-half of our simulation, United were much better and created a few chances, but had to wait until the 81st minute to claw a goal back.

Midfielder Bruno Fernandes produced an outstanding finish into the far corner, after turning the PSG defender, to make it 2-1 on the night.

But, despite United’s late rally, PSG claimed a win at Old Trafford.

Predicted FIFA 21 score: United 1-2 PSG

Here are the full time stats.

In our FIFA 21 simulation, there wasn’t much between the two teams in terms of possession or chances, but PSG’s more clinical finishing saw them claim an away win at Old Trafford.
