We simulated Burnley vs Manchester United to get a score prediction

3 min read

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Tuesday, with the Reds facing Burnley at Turf Moor.

United will be without Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones, whilst Facundo Pellistri also misses out after testing positive for COVID-19.

Edinson Cavani is available for selection once again after serving a three-match ban, whilst Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof are all slight injury doubts.

The Reds now haven’t lost a league game since November 1, having won six of their last seven games away from home in the league, and could go top of the table with a win or draw at Turf Moor ahead of their trip to Anfield on Sunday.

So, what lineups will Solskjaer go with against the Clarets? And, what will the final score be?

Ahead of the game, we used FIFA 21 to get a score prediction. This is what the game predicts.

Burnley vs Man United score predicted using FIFA 21

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode within FIFA 21 but didn’t select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to world class, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Burnley could set up in a 4-4-2 formation, with the line-up as follows: Pope; Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters; Gudmundsson, Westwood, Brownhill, Brady; Wood, Barnes.

We predict that Manchester United could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Fred; Rashford, Fernandes, Pogba; Martial.

United came up against a brilliant defensive performance from Burnley in this simulated game, with the Clarets restricting the away side to just a few half chances.

The first chance of the game fell to Bruno Fernandes, who lined up a free-kick from around 30 yards, but the Portuguese midfielder’s effort flew just wide of the post.

It took until just before the hour mark for United to genuinely test Nick Pope in the Burnley goal, with Harry Maguire pouncing on a loose ball in the penalty area and poking an effort towards goal, but the Clarets goalkeeper managed to tip his effort wide of the post.

Paul Pogba, Fernandes and Marcus Rashford all tested Pope in the final 15 minutes, albeit from long range, but there was no way through the Burnley defence in this simulated game.
