Reported Manchester United and Manchester City target Dayot Upamecano will leave RB Leipzig at the end of the season, it has been claimed.
The Frenchman is one of the most highly-rated young defenders in world football and has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Former Premier League footballer Jan Aage Fjortoft, who has since turned to a career in the media covering European football for Bild in Germany, has stated that Upamecano will leave at the end of the season.
Liverpool, City and United are all said to be monitoring the situation closely, while Bayern’s name is also mentioned but they will have to wait to see what plays out with David Alaba’s future.
Upamecano himself intensified rumours of a move to Old Trafford when he liked a social media post linking him with a prospective transfer.
The French defender penned a new contract with Julian Nagelsmann’s side in the summer but that did not bring an end to speculation, with the deal instead preserving his value in the market.
Leipzig can expect to earn a significant profit on the £9m they paid for his services in 2017, with Transfermarkt valuing the defender at a lofty £54m.
The Bundesliga side could easily command a higher figure for his services though, with a proposed fee potentially being enough to rank in the top-five of transfers in United and City’s history.
Bayern can be seen as a major threat though due to their rich history of snatching talented players from their Bundesliga rivals.
