Fulham clinch Andersen signing

Fulham have wrapped up the signing of Lyon defender Joachim Andersen on a season-long loan.

Cottagers boss Scott Parker has finally landed a centre-back after failing to sign Marlon from Sassuolo and the 24-year-old will join for the 2020/21 season.

“I’m really happy to make this move. I’m looking forward to playing in the Premier League and playing for a nice club like Fulham,” he told the club’s website.

“It’s a league I’ve been following since I was a child and it’s a big, big dream to play in the Premier League, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Leeds tease news of signing

Leeds United are expected to announce the signing of Raphinha from Rennes tonight as we enter the final half an hour of the transfer window.

It seems Marcelo Bielsa has been to the local chippy for some late-night fuel as the deal goes down to the wire…

Cavani delighted to continue ‘little story’ at Man United

New Manchester United signing Edinson Cavani has spoken to the club’s website about joining “one of the greatest clubs” in the world:

“Manchester United is one of the greatest clubs in the world, so it is a real honour to be here.

“I’ve worked really hard during the time off and I feel eager to compete and represent this incredible club. I have played in front of some of the most passionate supporters in football during my career and I know that it will be the same in Manchester.

“I cannot wait to experience the Old Trafford atmosphere when it is safe for the fans to return. I look forward to continuing to write my little story inside the book of football and I know that’s why my focus has to remain the same as always – work, work, work.

“I have had a conversation with the manager and this has increased my desire to wear this beautiful shirt.”

The veteran Uruguay international has completed a deadline day move to Old Trafford after whirlwind talks over weekend.

The 33-year-old convinced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he still has the hunger to compete at the highest level when the pair spoke on Saturday.

Cavani had previously not been in United’s plans, with the club even rejecting the chance to sign him in the recent past.

But Solskjaer is convinced he will elevate United’s attack to one of the deadliest in football and prove a mentor to Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.

BREAKING: Man United sign Cavani

Manchester United have completed the signing of Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the option of a further year after his release from PSG.

One in, three out at Southampton

Theo Walcott has undergone a medical ahead of his return to Southampton after 14 years away.

The Everton winger is set to return on a season-long loan after falling down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

Southampton defender Wesley Hoedt has returned to Lazio two years after leaving the Italian club and Sofiane Boufal has joined Angers.

Guido Carrillo, who made just nine appearances following a £17m move to St Mary’s, has left on a free transfer to join LaLiga new boys Elche.

More: How Man United identified Traore

Our Manchester correspondent James Robson reveals how Man United decided to move for Amad Traore…

“United have spent the window trying to land Jadon Sancho – but Traore is considered a talent also capable of establishing himself at the very top of the sport.

“He was recommended to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after being studied numerous heads of department in United’s recruitment team, who all agreed the Ivorian was a player the club could not afford to miss out on.

“It’s understood he was consistently given the highest rankings of all the academy players on United’s radar.”

BREAKING: Man United SIGN Amad Traore

James Robson | Manchester correspondent

Manchester United have completed the signing of Atalanta teenager Amad Traore in a deal that could rise to €41 million (£37.2m).

United will pay €21m (£19m) up front with a potential €20m (£18.2m) in add-ons for the Ivory Coast teenager.

The Red Devils have struck a deal for the 18-year-old after scouts identified the winger as the most exciting emerging talent in Europe. Traore has been scouted since 2016 and is considered a triumph of the club’s transfer committee.

Despite securing the teenager on deadline day, Traore will join up at a ‘later date’ – believed to be January.

Torreira joins Atletico on loan

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has reportedly finalised a season-long loan move to Atletico Madrid.

The Uruguayan had been tipped to leave the Emirates Stadium after struggling for game-time under Mikel Arteta.

With Thomas Partey set to complete his switch from the Spanish outfit, Fabrizio Romano reports Torreira, 25, will head to the capital in the opposite direction although the deals are separate from each other.

We’re still waiting on confirmation of Manchester United’s signing of Edinson Cavani and Arsenal are expected to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid for £45m.

Chelsea could loan out England international duo Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori to Fulham and West Ham respectively.

Tottenham are in talks to sign Joe Rodon from Swansea although there is still some distance between the two clubs on the fee for the Wales international.

Atalanta team-mate hails Man Utd-bound Traore

Manchester United have been searching for a winger in what has largely been a frustrating summer transfer window – but there could be a deadline day arrival.

Standard Sport understands that Jadon Sancho is still United’s No.1 target on the wing, with Ousmane Dembele and Ismaila Sarr backup options.

The club has also spent the last 24 hours trying to land Amad Traore ahead of a January arrival from Atalanta, along with 18-year-old Penarol winger Facundo Pellistri.

It is understood that work permit and passport issues mean Traore would be more likely to join up with the United squad in January – and he comes highly-rated.

Earlier this year, Atalanta captain Papu Gomez said of Traore: “He plays like Messi. There are defenders in the first team that sometimes cannot stop him. To stop him in training, we have to kick him!”

Anderlecht sign West Ham’s Cullen

West Ham midfielder Josh Cullen has left the club to join Belgian outfit Anderlecht on a permanent deal.

The 24-year-old has signed a three-year deal to link up with Vincent Kompany’s side in Belgium.

BREAKING: Smalling completes Roma move

Roma have beaten the clock to sign Chris Smalling from Manchester United, Standard Sport can confirm.

Our Manchester correspondent James Robson has the details…

Dembele to Man Utd is OFF

It appears Ousmane Dembele will not be joining Manchester United on loan from Barcelona.

The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford as an alternative target to Jadon Sancho.

However, as our Manchester correspondent James Robson reported earlier today, United were not keen on a permanent transfer, which is what the Catalans had suggested.

Saliba back to St Etienne?

Arsenal had to wait so long to see William Saliba in action after his loan back to Saint Etienne last season. But will the wait go on?

According to ESPN’s Julien Laurens, negotiations are ongoing which would see the 19-year-old return to the Ligue 1 outfit for a second loan spell.

Centre-back Saliba cost £27m last summer but is yet to make a Premier League appearance under Mikel Arteta.

Solskjaer pleased to land long-term target Telles

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed Manchester United scouted Alex Telles before sealing a £13.6m deal for the Porto full-back.

Solskjaer has had Telles watched extensively during his time at the club – regarding him as Portugal’s best left-back.

He said: “He is a player we have been tracking for some time and his performances over the past few years are exactly what we are looking for.

He is a fighter and a winner and will add real determination and competition to the squad.  Alex has the qualities, both as a player and as a person, that we want here at Manchester United.”

West Ham make late Tomori move

West Ham are in talks with Chelsea over a late loan deal for Fikayo Tomori after it became clear that Antonio Rudiger would not be leaving the club this window, reports Jack Rosser.

The Hammers have been keen on adding a central defender for the entire transfer window, but had considered pursuing targets in the Championship after they failed to reach an agreement with Burnley for James Tarkowski.

They will free up further funds for wages after negotiating an end to Jack Wilshere’s time at the club, with the former Arsenal man set to become a free agent.

LaLiga ‘tell Atletico Partey release clause triggered’

Arsenal have reportedly taken a giant step towards securing the signing of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.

The Gunners have reportedly deposited the Ghanaian’s release clause and LaLiga have subsequently informed the Spanish outfit the £45m fee has been paid.

That would grant Arsenal permission to discuss the contract with Partey, although it is believed personal terms have already been agreed on a five-year deal.

Tottenham working on Rodon deal

Dan Kilpatrick | Football correspondent

Tottenham are pursuing a deal for Swansea centre-half Joe Rodon but the clubs remain someway apart in their valuations of the Wales international.

The Premier League club are reluctant to meet Swansea’s £18m asking price and value Rodon, 22, at closer to £7m, but they are hopeful of reaching a compromise with the Swans.

Spurs would have until October 16 and the close of the domestic transfer window to complete a deal for Rodon but they must confirm their Europa League squad for the group stages by 11pm BST on Tuesday.

Rodon emerged as a defensive target after Spurs abandoned moves for Milan Skriniar of Inter Milan and Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger. Rodon is not the only Championship defender Spurs have considered, with the club having also watched Bournemouth’s Chris Mepham.
