Time is running out for Premier League sides to make changes to their squad for the 2020-21 season. Clubs have until October 5 to sign players from Europe, though deals with EFL clubs can continue until October 16.
So far, Chelsea have put the rest to shame with eight new additions while Tottenham have made a statement of intent of their own in re-signing Gareth Bale – with Sergio Reguilon also arriving from Real Madrid – while striker Carlos Vinicius has joined from Benfica on an initial loan deal.
Champions Liverpool have bolstered in the form of Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota – but it remains quiet for Manchester United as their pursuit of Jadon Sancho was put under added pressure following a tough Champions League group-stage draw.
Arsenal have also been busy, and are targeting Lyon captain Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey in what could be a dramatic finish to the transfer window.

Dembele set to stay at Barcelona?
Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele is set to stay at the Catalan club amid reports of a possible move to Manchester United.
The 23-year-old made just nine appearances for Barca in an injury-hit 2019-20 campaign and the Blaugrana have considered a sale in order to raise funds for a new forward this window.
However, coach Ronald Koeman revealed on Saturday that the French forward had not asked to leave and added that he would be given opportunities if he stays at the Catalan club.
“There is a lot of quality and competition in attack,” he said. “Ansu [Fati] is ahead of Dembele.
“If anyone is unhappy, they should tell me. I want to have happy people here.
“If he doesn’t want to be here, he should tell me and he hasn’t said anything to me. If he doesn’t say anything, he will have opportunities to play.”
Dembele played the last 20 minutes of Barca’s 4-0 win at home to Villarreal last weekend, but was an unused substitute in the 3-0 victory at Celta Vigo on Thursday.
A huge boost for Wolves today as Raul Jimenez commits his future to the club by signing a new four-year deal.
The Mexican striker has been a relevation since arriving from Benfica and scored 13 goals in the Premier League last season.
The 28-year-old had been linked with Juventus and Manchester United, but now looks set to remain at Molineux for the long-term.
CRYSTAL PALACE NEWS
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has refused to rule out making another signing before the transfer window closes on Monday.
The Eagles have already signed Nathan Ferguson, Eberechi Eze and Michy Batshuayi, but the 72-year-old says more business could yet happen.
“You never know, it’s always a mistake to say you’re done, there’s time left and opportunities can arise,” he said after the 4-0 defeat to Chelsea.
“But we’re not desperately seeking at the moment. We’ve got a squad who can see us through the season very well.”

Manchester United have reportedly entered talks with striker Edinson Cavani about a free transfer to Old Trafford.
The Uruguayan striker, a free agent after leaving PSG at the end of the season, has been strongly linked with Atletico Madrid and Benfica but a move failed to materialise.

Frank Lampard has said he wants to Callum Hudson-Odoi to stay at Chelsea after Bayern Munich confirmed their interest in the winger, writes Giuseppe Muro.
But Lampard did not rule out the possibility of Hudson-Odoi leaving before Monday’s transfer deadline, with Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick confirming the German giants are interested in Hudson-Odoi.
Lampard said on Friday that he would consider a loan move Hudson-Odoi if the deal was right for Chelsea and the player. But, speaking Chelsea beat Crystal Palace 4-0 on Saturday, Lampard said he does not want the 19-year-old to leave.
Lampard said: “Callum is absolutely part of my plans here. We had Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech injured, we saw Christian come back in today.
“But we need options on the wings and what Callum showed in the second half today and when he came on against West Brom was exactly what he needs to show. I am very pleased with him.”
The clear-out continues at Tottenham as defender Juan Foyth appears to be on the verge of joining Villarreal on a season-long loan.
The Argentine defender has been on the fringes of the first-team squad under Mourinho and looks set to link up with Unai Emery, the former Arsenal boss, at the Estadio de las Ceramicas.
The 22-year-old will have the option to make his move permanent if the LaLiga side stump up a €15m (£13.6m) fee for the centre-back.
Reports in France suggest Tottenham full-back Ryan Sessegnon will head to Hoffenheim on a season-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old has struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho and is yet to feature for Spurs this season.
Despite interest from Southampton, RMC Sport claim Sessegnon will follow the route taken by dozens of English youngsters in heading to the Bundesliga for first-team football.
RMC Sport, via Sport Witness, that Lyon have ended all chances of both Houssem Aouar and Memphis Depay leaving this summer. They will attend training at 6pm this evening and will be in the squad to face Marseille on Sunday.

Rudi Garcia keeps his men.

“Well I have been told and I think Wilf has had it made clear to him that we are not interested in late bids,” Hodgson told reporters.
