Manchester United came from behind to win an enthralling game at St. Mary’s, as Edinson Cavani came off the bench to score twice, including an injury-time winner.
United made two changes from the side that beat Istanbul Basaksehir in midweek, with Nemanja Matic and Mason Greenwood starting in place of Cavani and Anthony Martial, the latter of whom missed out due to illness.
United trailed by two goals at half-time, with Jan Bednarek glancing home from James Ward-Prowse’s corner before Ward-Prowse turned scorer, with a free-kick that David de Gea could only parry into the side of the net.
De Gea was withdrawn with a suspected knee injury at half-time as Solskjaer made a double substitution, with Dean Henderson coming on alongside Cavani.
Bruno Fernandes scored the goal that gave United hope, before a brace from Cavani sealed a memorable three points for the visitors.
