Southampton defender fires warning to Manchester United

Southampton defender Jan Bednarek is certain his side will cause Manchester United ‘many problems’ in their Premier League meeting this weekend.

United travel to St. Mary’s Stadium on Sunday afternoon as they look to stretch their winning run to four victories and climb up the table.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were rejuvenated in their midweek win over Istanbul Basaksehir but know they’ll need to be at their best in order to take points from the side currently in fifth place.

Bednarek admits it will be ‘really difficult’ to play United this weekend, but insists his side have what it takes to continue their early season form.

“We just have to do our jobs,” Bednarek told HampshireLive when asked for his plan to prevent Bruno Fernandes being handed a chance to score a penalty.

“Let’s hope we won’t make any penalties for them. That is part of football. Maybe they are clever to do it but if we play our way then we can hope that we won’t cause any penalties.”

He continued: “I watched their first half [against Istanbul] and they were really good, I was impressed with their game and they played really quick, they were really committed without the ball.

“They will be really, really difficult to play against but we are happy. We know that we will cause them many problems and they will see how difficult it is to play against us.”
