Micah Richards has mocked Rio Ferdinand over his previous comments on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after his tweet following the derby win over Manchester City.
Richards was left to wonder what went wrong for City as their 21-match winning run came to an end at the hands of their fiercest rivals – who produced a brilliant display at the Etihad Stadium.
Bruno Fernandes converted, despite Ederson ‘s best efforts and they doubled their lead in the second-half. Luke Shaw capped off an excellent move from the visitors to score just his second goal for the Reds.
After the game, Richards – formerly of City and a pundit on Sky Sports for the derby – said that he wanted to ‘drown his sorrows in a sports bar’.
Richards then replied with: “Here he is! I suppose ole is back at the wheel”.
The former Blues man was referring to Ferdinand’s famous moment live on BT Sport when he said “Ole is at the wheel” after United’s Champions League win against Paris Saint-Germain in March 2019.
United’s form massively deteriorated in the following months, meaning the former defender’s comments went viral online. However, United don’t look like going anywhere at the minute – and the result against table-topping City reaffirms that.
United now face AC Milan in the Europa League before a home clash with West Ham United next Sunday evening. For City, they take on Southampton in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
