The Norwegian has attracted attention from a host of top European clubs this term for his fantastic performances for Salzburg.
The 19-year-old, who was born in Leeds and is the son of former Man City ace Alf-Inge, has scored 18 goals in 11 appearances in all competitions this term.
Haaland was given his Molde debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the age of 16 and the United boss is reportedly keen to take the striker to Old Trafford.
However, AS claim that Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Haaland with a view to making a move for him next summer.
The La Liga giants splashed out around £60m on Luka Jovic last summer, though the 22-year-old has played second fiddle to Karim Benzema.
But the Frenchman will be 32 next year and Real have identified Haaland as a long-term replacement.
United’s interest could depend on the future of Solskjaer. The Norwegian has a three-year deal with the club but United have made a dismal start to the season and his job will be on the line if he cannot turn the club’s results around.
Should Solskjaer stay, AS claim Haaland will be a ‘primary’ target next summer as the club look to rebuild.
Mario Mandzukic, the Juventus striker, has been identified as a short-term solution and Metro.co.uk understands Solskjaer is keen on signing the Croatian in January.
