OPINION: United are continuing to ignore Rangnick’s transfer warning
“Club building is about building the right squad by transferring the right players away and having more than 50 per cent success rate of bringing in the right players.”
Ralf Rangnick was something of a stranger to Manchester United and English football and he had already spotted a fundamental error in the way the club was being run in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
It was back in August 2019 when Rangnick, who watched his side blow a two-goal lead against Aston Villa on Saturday, piling even more pressure on his and the club’s shoulders, made the above admission and it is fair to say that it still stands true to this day, more than two-and-a-half years on.
As you will discover by visiting the first-team squad page on United’s club website, Rangnick’s squad, excluding those who are out on loan, currently stands at being 31-man strong. The prospect of him being able to keep everyone happy is nigh on impossible – and so it is proving.
