Ole Gunnar Solskjaer outlines Manchester United transfer wish

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reiterated his preference for Manchester United to conclude their transfer business early in the summer window.

United are interested in signing a centre forward and a centre-back, as well as a midfielder and a right-back, amid interest in Raphael Varane, Pau Torres, Erling Haaland, Declan Rice, and Kieran Trippier.

However, United signed four of their five signings last summer on deadline day and the upcoming transfer window is fraught with issues as clubs continue to reel from the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The European Championship also does not finish until July 12 and agents were not permitted entry to the hotel where the France squad stayed during Euro 2016, when United were pursuing Paul Pogba.

Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, has outlined his intention to move the Frenchman this summer and there is uncertainty over the futures of David de Gea, Eric Bailly, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata.

“The transfer window will come when it comes, I’m just focusing on finishing the league strong,” Solskjaer said. “We have too many important games to finish and to win.

“But everyone in this job would like to do deals as soon as possible, but my sole focus is on winning games.”

In the four summer windows prior to 2020, United completed all of their signings before their first Premier League fixture with the exception of the re-signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2017.

Anthony Martial arrived on deadline day in 2015 and United concluded the moves of Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao on the final day for business the previous year, as they also did with Marouane Fellaini in 2013.
