Manchester United’s home match with Liverpool has been rearranged following Sunday’s postponement.
The Premier League fixture, which could have seen Manchester City crowned champions had United lost, had to be postponed due to ‘safety concerns’ following mass protests from United fans against the Glazer family’s ownership of the club.
Thousands of fans descended upon Old Trafford for the largely peaceful protest, though there were some clashes with the police.
Approximately 100 supporters also breached the stadium and invaded the pitch ahead of the scheduled kick-off time, leading to fears of a Covid-19 breach.
With players delayed at the Lowry Hotel due to a large fan presence outside the hotel, the game was eventually postponed.
The Premier League has now confirmed that the game will instead now be played on Thursday, May 13, with kick-off coming at 8:15pm and again being televised on Sky Sports.
Due to the lack of space available to play the fixture towards the end of the season, United will be forced to play three times in just five days.
The away trip to Aston Villa on Sunday, May 9, will then be followed by the visit of Leicester City on Tuesday, May 11 – with kick-off at 6pm and televised on BT Sport – before Liverpool arrive just two days later.
