Gary Neville says Manchester United need to strengthen in three areas during the summer transfer window.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are hoping to continue with their squad rebuild at the end of the season after another campaign of steady progression at Old Trafford.
United strengthened their grip on second place in the Premier League with a comeback win over Brighton last weekend before taking a massive stride forward in Europe with a 2-0 first leg victory against Granada on Thursday night.
The win in Spain has kept United’s hopes of winning a trophy alive, with success in this season’s Europa League the only chance of silverware left.
No matter what happens between now and the end of the campaign United will look to strengthen their first-team playing squad and club great Neville has given his advice on the positions to strengthen.
Taking part in an impromptu social media Q&A session on Friday morning Neville was asked which three positions he would like to strengthen this summer.
“Centre back, striker and right winger,” he replied to one fan question before later naming Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane as his dream summer signing.
MEN Sport understand United are in the market for both a centre forward and a centre-back, amid interest in Erling Haaland and Raphael Varane, but are mindful there are a number of top players out of contract next year, with Varane among them.
The 27-year-old has still not signed a new deal with Real Madrid and the MEN revealed last month the Bernabeu club is prepared to sell defender Varane to United this summer in order to obtain a fee.
