Manchester United prospect James Garner has wasted no time in winning over the Nottingham Forest fans.
The 19-year-old midfielder joined Forest on loan from United at the back end of the January transfer window, having spent the first half of the season at Watford.
Garner will spend the remainder of the 2020-21 campaign at the City Ground – and has certainly impressed in his two outings to far, helping Chris Hughton’s side claim successive victories..
The teenager helped Forest to a 2-1 win away to Coventry City on his debut on Tuesday night.
After the game, Hughton said: I’m really pleased. I think for for a young lad of 19, he showed maturity.
“Probably what he did show was that this is a lad that’s that’s played the first half of the season at a team that’s in the top six in the division.
“He has played and been involved 17-18 games and he’s had 11 starts. I am pleased for him. And I thought his contribution was really good.”
Garner caught the eye again on Saturday as Forest won 3-0 at Wycombe Wanderers.
Glenn Murray, who was also on loan at Watford earlier this season, scored twice on his full debut, with Anthony Knockaert also on target for the visitors.
But it was Garner’s display in the middle of the park that got plenty of Forest supporters talking.
One sent a message to United on Twitter, saying: “That’s one hell of a player you lot have in James Garner.”
Another tweeted: “Having watched it back again this morning, James Garner gets more and more impressive. I’d compare it too when we had Aaron Ramsey on loan from Arsenal, in that even though you could see he’s not the finished article, he looks a class above.”

Manchester United smashed nine goals past Southampton on Tuesday night as they bounced back from disappointing results against Sheffield United and Arsenal in emphatic fashion.
The game was effectively over as a contest inside the first two minutes as Southampton were reduced to 10 men, but United still had to find the goals and they did exactly that, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial (two), Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes and Daniel James all getting on the scoresheet.

After the Wycombe game, Garner himself tweeted: “Quality stuff from the boys again.”
The much-needed back-to-back wins have left Forest 18th in the Championship table, four points clear of the relegation zone.
They return to action at home to Bournemouth on Saturday (February 13).
