Manchester United youngster Connor Stanley has joined Atlanta United’s second team on loan for the 2021 season.
Stanley, 19, is out of contract at United in the summer and the club does not intend to offer the winger an extension.
In a statement, Atlanta said : “Atlanta United 2 today announced it has acquired four players ahead of the 2021 USL Championship season.
“Joining the club are forwards Matías Benítez, Darwin Matheus and Connor Stanley and midfielder Chris Allan. Benítez and Stanley join the club on loan for the 2021 season.”
Stanley wrote on his Instagram page: “It has been a long and tough process but I am happy to announce that I am joining Atlanta United 2 on loan until the end of the season.
“I am so happy and excited about the opportunity ahead of me and cannot wait to get back on the pitch doing what I love and give my all.”
Redditch-born Stanley joined the United academy from Birmingham in 2018 but has only made three appearances for the Under-23s this season.
The Manchester Evening News reported last month Stanley, Paul Woolston, Arnau Puigmal and Max Taylor will not sign new deals and are expected to be released in the summer.
United released nine players at the end of their contracts last year.
