Manchester United remain in the hunt for a new right winger despite the looming transfer deadline and are looking at Kingsley Coman as an alternative to Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.

The Red Devils have endured a miserable window, only bringing in Donny van de Beek from Ajax, but look set to be the busiest Premier League club on deadline day with a number of deals in the pipeline.

Free agent Edinson Cavani has already touched down in Manchester to undergo a medical and sign a two-year contract, while a fee has finally been agreed with Porto for left-back Alex Telles.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s priority throughout the summer was to sign a right winger, though Borussia Dortmund refused to budge on their mammoth asking price for top target Jadon Sancho.

That has seen United explore other options in a last-minute scramble and, according to The Telegraph, Bayern Munich winger Coman is back on the agenda.

United have been in talks with Barcelona over Dembele, though both the player and his club prefer a permanent move – for a fee of around £50m – while United are more interested in a loan.

Although Barca boss Ronald Koeman opened the door for Dembele to leave before the deadline, that deal now looks very hard to get over the line before the close of play tonight.

Bayern, though, might be more open to allowing Coman to leave particularly as they close in on a loan of their own for Juventus’ Douglas Costa, who is in Germany to undergo a medical and return to Bavaria.

That gives Bayern a horde of options in the attacking wide roles, having signed Leroy Sane over the summer, and Coman – despite scoring in the Champions League final only a few weeks ago – could now become surplus to requirements.

Coman has only made one brief substitute appearance for Bayern this season, while he netted seven times and laid on four assists in the Bundesliga and Champions League last season. He has won titles in Germany, Italy and France and could be tempted to add England to his list.
