Defender Eric Bailly (right) has returned to training this week after suffering a knock
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed Bailly may return to his squad on Sunday
‘We’ve had a rare opportunity to do a little bit of training and actually some recovery,’ Solskjaer said on Friday afternoon.
‘You’ve got Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and then not a game until Sunday, so that’s been a rarity for us really.
‘But Paul is still out. Eric’s been training so that’s a boost for us.’
French midfielder Pogba, who had played himself back into good form, is expected to miss a ‘few weeks’ with a thigh injury suffered during the Everton draw.
Defender Phil Jones remains sidelined but is nearing his return.
United return to Europa League action when they play Spanish club Real Sociedad in Turin next Thursday before a home league game with Newcastle.
Young striker Shola Shoretire has been promoted into Manchester United’s first team squad
Shoretire, 17, celebrates scoring during United under-23’s game with Blackburn last week
Hannibal Mejbri has also been called up into the United first-team squad this week
Testing trips to Chelsea and City await on the horizon which will make or break United’s title challenge.
Solskjaer also confirmed that youngster Shola Shoretire, 17, was promoted to the first-team squad this week with 18-year-old Hannibal Mejbri set to join him.
‘First of all, the young kids – we’ve moved Shola up with us,’ he said. ‘Hannibal will join us and we’ll keep them with us for a while.
‘I think it’s the next step in their development.
‘We’ve just got to take the hit on them when they play in the reserves that they have to travel by themselves, so they move into our bubble and I think that’s a nice step for them. Well deserved because they’ve done really well.’
