Manchester United will be aiming to get back to winning ways after the disappointing 3-3 draw against Everton on Saturday night.
But the cup tie against West Ham on Tuesday night will represent an opportunity to bounce straight back ahead of the weekend’s trip to face West Bromwich Albion.
The visitors, who are enjoying a good season under former United boss David Moyes, also dropped points at the weekend and will be looking for a big scalp when they travel to Old Trafford.
Speaking ahead of the game Moyes praised his opposite number Solskjaer, but appeared to aim a sly dig at his former employers by emphasising the trust they have put in the Norwegian.
“Given the time that he’s been given, he’s started to mould together a really young, exciting team,” Moyes stated at his pre-match press conference.
“They’ve had a couple of really good players come through their academy and brought in a couple of players to help their team also.
“I think they’re building a nice team and the time Ole’s been given to do that has helped.”
West Ham will have midfielder Tomas Soucek available for the tie, after the Hammers won their appeal to have his red card against Fulham overturned.
The Czech Republic international was shown a straight red card against Fulham on Saturday, with referee Mike Dean believing the midfielder intentionally used an elbow in a challenge with Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The FA Cup clash kicks off at 7.30pm GMT on Tuesday, February 9.
