Manchester United vs Burnley LIVE highlights and reaction

6 min read

It’s matchday as Manchester United host Burnley in the Premier League.

United progressed to the Europa League semi-final on Thursday after beating Granada 2-0 at Old Trafford, and truthfully Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘s side were never tested across either leg against the Spaniards, comfortably making it through to the next round.

The Reds played domestically last weekend in between their European exertions, completing the turnaround away at Tottenham thanks to goals from Fred, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood which rounded off an outstanding second-half performance.

They’ll be eager to start strongly against Burnley, though, something they’ve struggled to do all too often when playing at home this season, and United have even changed the backdrop at Old Trafford from red to black to encourage a change of fortunes.

Eric Bailly is not included in today’s squad, but Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are all available for selection again after serving their European suspensions.

More thoughts on Henderson

This hasn’t been Henderson’s finest hour in a United shirt. He’s not come from a corner landing well inside his six-yard box but has twice raced to the edge of his box and beyond to try and come for balls that were never his. His positivity is part of his game and it should be applauded, but on this evidence it’s his decision making which needs a little work.

Henderson’s decision making has been poor

Henderson comes out again when he doesn’t need to.

He’s made some poor decisions since that disallowed goal.

Fernandes deserves an assist for the goal

Fernandes deserves an assist for that, a wonderful bit of awareness and composure to step over that pass and let Greenwood come on to the ball at the perfect angle.

Rashford toiled centrally in the first half but with room to run into down the left he looked a different player. That was a lovely, lovely goal.

Rashford deserves credit

Rashford has done pretty well for a player who has looked incapable of completing 90 minutes over the last month. He’s shouted a couple of expletives amid United’s lateral passing and that selfishness there was justified. He opened up the angle to justify the attempt at Peacock-Farrell’s goal.
