Manchester United’s Under-23s side will get their Premier League 2 campaign underway tonight against Leicester City.
United’s youngsters will be competing in the top division this year and will be hoping to build on their thrilling start to the season after defeat League Two’s Salford City 6-0 in the EFL Trophy last week.
Neil Wood’s side were excellent in the match but it was creative-midfielder Hannibal Mejbri who was the star of the show, as he scored the opener with an emphatic finish and also grabbed two assists.
Arnau Puigmal fired home the second and Mark Helm notched a third just after half-time and, just as the sting seemed to have gone out of the game, a crazy five minutes saw United score three more late on.
Charlie McCann started the scoring with a fine strike before Helm scored again after being played in by James Garner. Finally, Anthony Elanga got in on the act with a finish described by Gary Neville as ‘Thierry Henry-esque’.
