Manchester United’s Under-23s notched their first victory since being promoted back to the top tier of youth football by beating Everton 2-1.
Neil Wood’s United side hosted the Toffees at Leigh Sports Village this evening (kicking off at 7pm), looking to build on two chaotic away draws in their past two outings. United drew 3-3 with Arsenal last time out, and 2-2 against Blackburn before that and have also suffered two defeats this season.
Facundo Pellistri played his first game for United in the game, which was marked by goals from Anthony Elanga and Ethan Galbraith, who won the game for United with a stoppage time penalty.
Marcos Rojo and Brandon Williams also started as United gave players much-needed game time. The win will satisfy Wood and his staff.
United XI: Mastny, Williams, Rojo, Fish, Mengi, Galbraith, Shoretire, Mejbri, Elanga, Pellistri, Fernandez.
Subs: Ercolani, Woolston, Hugill, Helm, McCann.
