Real Madrid are preparing for life without star centre back Raphael Varane, with the Frenchman said to be ‘seriously considering’ leaving the club in the summer.
Varane has been a mainstay in the Los Blancos defence for the last decade, but he is yet to sign a new deal with his current contract set to expire in the summer of 2022.
AS report that Real Madrid are not going to let him leave for free, meaning this summer is decisive – he either signs a new contract or is sold.

Zinedine Zidane will hope to convince his centre back to stay, much like he did back in 2019
It is claimed that Varane also wanted to leave in 2019 but was persuaded to stay by Zinedine Zidane. This time, though, the defender has the upper hand in contract talks given that he will have just one season remaining before being able to walk away for nothing.
Manchester United are among the clubs credited with an interest in the 27-year-old, who is said to be worth in the region of £55million if he were to sign this summer.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are already looking at potential replacements, with Villarreal’s Pau Torres, Bayern Munich’s David Alaba and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde their top three options.

All three have been consistently linked with the Bernabeu giants over the last year, but the very real threat of Varane’s exit means they are all now serious options.
Before any final decision is made on the Frenchman’s future though, full focus will be on the remainder of the season with Real still fighting for both LaLiga and the Champions League.
Zidane’s men are 1-0 up on aggregate in their last 32 tie with Atalanta, while in the Spanish top flight they sit five points off Atletico Madrid at the top, albeit their rivals have a game in hand.
