Manchester United player ratings: Dean Henderson good but Marcus Rashford poor

2 min read

Dean Henderson

Handled Palace’s aerial balls well and dealt with everything he faced with confidence. Had nothing to do until huge save at the death. 8

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Much more adventurous on his old patch and a regular in the final third but struggled to provide the telling pass. 6

Eric Bailly

Reinforced his credentials to remain Harry Maguire’s main partner for the rest of the season. Did next to nothing wrong. 7

Harry Maguire

Started so sloppily he had Ed Woodward smacking a seat in exasperation. Had little to contend with amid Palace’s reticence. 6

Luke Shaw

Offered width and got into plenty of crossing positions but his delivery rarely caused Palace problems. 6

Fred

Made United tick with his zippy passing in a much-improved performance. Sacrificed for a goal-getter in Scott McTominay. 6

Nemanja Matic

Went close to getting the breakthrough with a deflected shot that was tipped over. Offered balance in midfield. 6

Mason Greenwood

So greedy and kept on running down blind alleys. Chastised by Bruno Fernandes for his selfishness. A bit better in the second-half. 5

Bruno Fernandes

Did not get into the game and when that happens United struggle. Became increasingly frustrated and looks knackered. 4

Marcus Rashford

Wasted another gilt-edged chance when he fired wide in the first-half and got little right. Constantly ran into Palace defenders. 3

Edinson Cavani

Blazed over when well placed to score and that was not his first glaring miss of the season. Taken off in the 78th minute on his first appearance in 17 days. 5

Subs

Scott McTominay

Came on to try and get a goal. 5

Daniel James

Gave United energy. 5

Manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Got the personnel right and was let down by a blunt front four. Had limited options to call on from the bench but should maybe have chanced it with Amad. 6
