Fred on preparation for PSG

Manchester United midfielder Fred insists his side need to be flexible against Paris Saint-Germain in next week’s crunch Champions League clash.

The Reds host last season’s runners-up at Old Trafford on Wednesday and a draw would clinch their place in the knockout stage.

With their own qualification hopes lying in the balance, the pressure is on the French side to attack at Old Trafford.

Fred said: “Man, we already know them. We know a lot about the players. I’ve played a lot with Neymar. So before the game we try to see a lot of videos of them.

“Whether they come out on the right or the left. If they put more speed or less speed in some moves. We have to be prepared for everything there in the game.

“We know that they can decide the game at any time. So we have to be on all the time.”

Reds return for Ramos?

United were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos five years ago, but Dimitar Berbatov does not believe it is too late to sign the Spaniard.

Ramos is now 34 and is out of contract in the Spanish capital next summer.

Berbatov told Betfair: “I’m sure if Ramos wanted to move to a club like United then it would work out well for him too. He’s in great shape, he’s still a world-class defender and in my opinion there’s still a lot of football left in him.

“I see him as a Real Madrid player, however, and I think player and club will find a solution and he will stay. I’ll be surprised if he leaves, but if things don’t work out then I’m sure a lot of clubs will be interested in him.”

Saints star names United’s biggest threats

Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand believes Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford are United’s two biggest attacking threats.

“Manchester United are a great club with great individuals, it will be a tough game for us,” Bertrand said. “They have shown some inconsistency but when they get it right they have had some amazing results.

“The threat on the counter is their biggest threat. They have many great individuals, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes seem to be their top performers so far.”
