Manchester United have named Eric Bailly and Juan Mata in their side to face LASK at Old Trafford in tonight’s Europa League round-of-16 clash.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made nine changes to the side that defeated Leicester on the final day of the Premier League season which secured their place in next season’s Champions League.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah replaces Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back with Brandon Williams taking his place at left-back with Luke Shaw out injured. Bailly partners Harry Maguire in the centre of defence, his first appearance since suffering a nasty head injury during the FA Cup semi-final loss to Chelsea.
Solskjaer confirmed Jesse Lingard would start and he features alongside Fred and Scott McTominay in midfield. Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba are among the substitutes as well as youngster James Garner.
Mata and Daniel James flank Odion Ighalo who leads the line.
Teden Mengi and Tahith Chong are named among the substitutes but there is no place in the matchday squad for Ethan Laird who celebrates his 19th birthday today.
Garner spoke to the club’s media team prior to the game and revealed he was desperate to feature in some capacity.
He said: “I’ve not played a game for so long I can’t even tell you. Yes, it was against Stoke in the last Under-23s game a few months ago, even more. So I am itching to get out playing now to get some games. That is what I am here to do and what I want to do.”
