Manchester United fans are keen to see Donny van de Beek start against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
Van De Beek has been underused so far this season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer defending his decision to use other midfielders over the summer signing, insisting during his Tuesday press conference that the Dutchman will get his opportunity during a busy season.
Using MEN Sport’s team selector, fans chose both Pogba and Van de Beek to start the first home game of the season in the Champions League, in an attacking midfield trio that also included Bruno Fernandes. It is a formation that would presumably see Pogba and Van De Beek drop slightly deeper to allow Fernandes to roam forward.
David de Gea is backed as usual, with a back line of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Axel Tuanzebe and Alex Telles the most popular selection from fans.
With Victor Lindelof seemingly out, Tuanzebe’s inclusion seems logical, although Telles could well be replaced by Luke Shaw after he was not spotted arriving with the squad at the team hotel earlier on Wednesday.
In attack, a familiar trio of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial are chosen, with fans wanting to make Edinson Cavani wait for his first start for the club.
Cavani looked lively off the bench on his debut for United on Saturday, in what was his first appearance in months.
United fans’ most popular XI: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Tuanzebe, Telles; Fernandes, Van De Beek, Pogba, Rashford, Greenwood, Martial.
