Manchester United: Harry Maguire claims X-rated on-pitch row with Marcus Rashford shows ‘passion’

2 min read

Harry Maguire insists his heated on-pitch row with Manchester United team-mate Marcus Rashford is a good thing because it shows they are ‘passionate’ about the team.

The pair became embroiled in a heated argument in their limp 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace after the United skipper ordered Rashford to ‘f****** get back onside’, which the England striker took exception to by furiously responding: ‘What the f*** do you want me to do? You f****** k*******.’

The exchange echoed round an empty Selhurst Park for all at home to hear, but Maguire insists it can only be a positive to see players taking such responsibility.

When asked about the incident, Maguire told the Sun: ‘If we want to win titles and win trophies, we must have leaders.

‘You pick up these things as there is no crowd in the stadium.

‘But we are always shouting at each other in games. I have full respect for Marcus and he has full respect for myself. ‘He wants the best for the club and I want the best for the club.

‘It just shows we are going in the right direction. We are passionate. We are frustrated. We want to be winning football matches. We are passionate about the club and team spirit. We show passion.’

Next up for Maguire and co rivals Manchester City before a two-legged Europa League tie against AC Milan, a home clash against West ham and an FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester in a crucial two-week period.

United have stumbled for form of late after four draws in their last five Premier League games which has all but ended their hopes of denying City the title.

Another man who saw no problem with the argument was former striker Dimitar Berbatov, who told Betfair he ‘liked’ before recalling a similarly heated moment between himself and Rio Ferdinand.
