Manchester United were handed a worrying injury blow against Everton as Paul Pogba limped off in the first half.
The midfielder was in possession of the ball with around nine minutes left of the opening period but pulled up and went down after passing to a teammate.
Solskjaer has plenty of other midfielders to choose from should Pogba prove to be unavailable for any period of time, with the likes of Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Donny van de Beek all providing competition for places.
Yet Pogba’s form is such that he could be a big miss for United should he be absent from any period of time
Pogba’s long-term future is back on the agenda after one of his brothers warned the club that they will have to sell the Frenchman this summer if they are to avoid losing him on a free transfer. Solskjaer praised Pogba for his return to form ahead of the game against Everton.
“Paul has really knuckled down, he’s worked hard, got his fitness,” Solskjaer said. “I’ve said this many a time, he’s had a bad season last season with injuries, he got COVID this season, he had an injury [as well].
“But he works hard, he’s playing in a team that plays well, of course. He’s a big inspiration for everyone, he always has a big smile – not always a big smile, because yesterday in training, when his team lost, you can see how that affects him and he wasn’t happy.”
