Manchester United fans urge Solskjaer to start Van de Beek against Burnley

2 min read

Manchester United fans want to see six changes to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s XI that will face Burnley on Sunday.

United secured their place in the semi-finals of the Europa League in comfortable fashion, beating Granada 2-0 on the night and 4-0 on aggregate.

Solskjaer named a strong line-up against the La Liga side but was able to rest key players in the second half. Paul Pogba was taken off at the interval, while Marcus Rashford was given the night off.

Despite the strong XI named on Thursday night, United fans have named six alterations they’d like to see, including a rare start for Donny van de Beek.

The Dutch midfielder has only started two Premier League matches this season, with the last of those coming against West Ham in December last year.

Unsurprisingly, Dean Henderson returns in goal at the expense of David de Gea, despite another clean sheet for the Spaniard, whilst Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw come in for Axel Tunazebe and Alex Telles to complete United’s first-choice defence.

In midfield, Van de Beek starts in the centre alongside Scott McTominay, with Bruno Fernandes ahead of them in his usual attacking midfield slot.

Despite his impressive form, there’s no room for Paul Pogba in attack. Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani are joined by Marcus Rashford, who sat out Thursday’s 2-0 win.

In total, that makes six changes in all, with Henderson, Maguire, Shaw, McTominay, Van de Beek and Rashford coming into the XI.

A win for United would move them to within eight points of Manchester City with the same number of games played.
