Manchester United fans would name a strong starting XI for Thursday’s match against Granada, with Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani all starting.
Even though Granada are only ninth in La Liga, United fans would take no chances in the match and still play a very strong side, despite the fact that Tottenham Hotspur await in the Premier League on Sunday.
They would make four changes to the team that scraped past Brighton on Sunday, however, the first of which would be in goal with David de Gea replacing Dean Henderson.
The Spaniard has found himself playing second fiddle to Henderson since returning from paternity leave and could now become the ‘cup keeper’ for the first time during his spell at United, a role that was previously filled by Sergio Romero while De Gea played in the league.
United fans would also give Luke Shaw a well-deserved rest. The left-back has been crucial for United this season and has played a lot of football, so fans would like to see Alex Telles come in so Shaw can be fresh for Sunday. They would leave the rest of the defence unchanged, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof making up the back four.
In midfield fans want to see both Pogba and Fernandes selected, hoping that the dynamic duo can work their magic to get the tie settled over the first leg. They would like to see Scott McTominay come in for Fred, however.
Finally, in attack supporters would keep Cavani and Mason Greenwood in the team but replace Marcus Rashford with Dan James. Rashford hobbled out of the win against Brighton but has been declared fit for the game and has travelled with the squad, though starting him could risk aggravating the injury again.
There is no place in the fans’ starting XI for young forwards Amad or Anthony Elanga, both of whom will be hoping to get some valuable first-team minutes after making the trip to Spain.
United fans’ starting XI vs Granada: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Telles; McTominay, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, James; Cavani.
