Following their comfortable 3-0 victory over Brighton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, United return to Premier League action today as they take on Jose Mourinho’s Spurs at Old Trafford.
United supporters are full of confidence going into the fixture following the confirmation of the starting line up, as Bailly comes in to the centre of defence in place of Victor Lindelof.
The Ivorian spent much of last season sidelined due to a serious knee injury he suffered in pre-season and only managed to start one match in the Premier League.
That game was the 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which he played excellently in, and Bailly also put in a solid performance at the Amex Stadium in mid-week.
Lindelof, meanwhile, has had a dreadful start to the campaign. The Swede played a part on all three goals which were conceded in the opening day defeat against Crystal Palace and didn’t cover himself in glory in the league encounter with Brighton on Saturday, in which the Seagulls had 18 shots on goal.
Fans have been clamouring to see Bailly start in the league and they are delighted to see him do so against Spurs, predicting United to be much more solid at the back as a result.
Manchester United starting XI vs Spurs: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Shaw; Matic, Pogba, Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial.
Substitutes: Henderson, Lindelof, Fred, Lingard, Mata, McTominay, Van de Beek.
