Here are your Manchester United evening headlines for Wednesday, November 18.
Diallo transfer obstacle remains
The Reds reached an agreement for the Ivorian-born winger on deadline day in October, with a view to finalising the tricky work permit aspect ahead of a January arrival – Diallo was born in Cote d’Ivoire but has lived in Italy since childhood.
The move for the 18-year-old was described at the time as being subject to ‘medical, personal terms and work permit,’ with the United to pay an initial fee of £19 million, potentially rising to £37m.
But the MEN can reveal the club are still in the process of completing the work permit step.
Diallo, who is yet to play international football at any age-group level, scored on his Atalanta debut in October 2019.
He has yet to feature for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side this term, but has been an unused substitute on a number of occasions.
Deschamps sends message over Paul Pogba
Paul Pogba was handed another run-out by France manager Didier Deschamps on Tuesday, playing 90 minutes as Les Bleus beat Sweden 4-2 at the Stade de France.
The midfielder has been in and out of the United side in recent weeks but has started all three of his country’s fixtures during the current international break.
And after his display in France’s UEFA Nations League win, Deschamps urged United to take note of Pogba’s performances over the past week.
“Just see what he was able to do in Portugal and what he did tonight,” the World Cup-winning manager said. “I know him, I know how he works. He has pride and above all he has talent.
“Paul is a top-level player and I hope what he did with us will be useful to him when he gets back to his club.”
Pogba has started just two Premier League games since the end of September but will be available to United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for Saturday’s match against West Bromwich Albion.

Both players have reportedly been struggling with back issues, prompting doubts as to whether they will be fit to start against West Brom at Old Trafford on Saturday night.
United have confirmed they will monitor the pair before determining whether they can feature against the Baggies, after both featured for their countries during the international break.

Centre-back Lindelof only managed 66 minutes of Sweden’s defeat in France due to the recurrence of the back issue that has been troubling him on club duty, according to his country’s assistant manager Peter Wettergren.
Martial, meanwhile, was an unused substitute for Sweden’s opponents, having reportedly suffered a back problem of his own in France’s previous game against Portugal.
