Manchester United have a host of plans for the summer transfer window and Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho is central to them.
A year after a deal was unable to be thrashed out between the two sides, United are once again in negotiations as they look to finally land the England international.
The Three Lions’ exploits at the European Championships will certainly complicate matters, with any transfer unlikely to be finalised until after England’s involvement in the international tournament, but work continues behind the scenes.
On Thursday, reports from Germany stated United had submitted their first bid for the winger, a fee of around €69m, with it added the approach was rejected as the Bundesliga side hold out for closer to €90m.
The MEN understands that a breakthrough is not imminent but, with discussions ongoing, United sources consider a possible deal to be more likely than it was last year.
With months remaining in the summer market, the signs are promising for United and that is also reflected in the latest betting odds.
Grosvenor Casinos place United as firm favourites to land Sancho, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side given a 3/10 likelihood of bringing the 21-year-old to Old Trafford.
Remaining with Dortmund is seen as the second most-likely option for the young star, priced at 2/1, while Liverpool and Chelsea are seen as outsiders in the battle.
A return to Manchester City is viewed as a longshot, with a price of 16/1, while moves to Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also seen as unlikely.
