Manchester United and Man City asked why they haven’t signed Harry Kane

2 min read

Manchester United and Manchester City have been asked why they haven’t signed Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur by former Arsenal defender Paul Merson.

The England skipper was part of the Spurs side that suffered defeat to Everton on the opening weekend, raising the pressure ahead of Jose Mourinho’s first full season in charge.

Now 27, Kane has remained with Spurs throughout his professional career, scoring 143 Premier League goals for the North London side including two Golden Boot-winning campaigns.

However, he is still yet to win a trophy in his career and Merson has questioned why United or City have not made a move to secure his services.

“I’m probably Harry Kane’s biggest fan after his mum and dad! I look at him and I think: ‘What are you going to win at Tottenham?'” he told Sky Sports.

“He’s one of the best in the business at scoring goals, but he’s scoring 30 goals a season and not getting chances to win trophies, what’s the point in being there?

“I just cannot believe nobody has come in for him. What am I missing?! Manchester United are crying out for a goal-scoring centre-forward, and if I’m being honest I think Man City are too. If Sergio Aguero gets injured, they miss too many chances. Aguero is two shots, one goal.”
