Manchester United and City FA Cup fifth round dates and TV schedule confirmed

2 min read

The dates and TV information for the FA Cup fifth round have been confirmed.

Matches will be played in midweek due to the condensed nature of this season, with games set to take place between February 9 and February 11.

Both Manchester United and Man City are in the round and they have now found out when their respective games will take place.

United will host Premier League rivals West Ham on Tuesday, February 9, at 7.30pm with the game live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The match will be the second tie of the round, following on from the opening fixture between Burnley and Bournemouth, which takes place two hours earlier.

City’s trip to Championship side Swansea City, meanwhile, will take place the following day on Wednesday, February 10.

In an early evening kick-off, the game gets under way at 5.30pm and will be shown live on BT Sport One.

The fixture scheduling means United’s Premier League game against Everton will now likely have to be rearranged.

United were set to play host to the Toffees on Monday, February 8, but are unlikely to be asked to play in the FA Cup just 24 hours later.

Manchester United lost 2-1 to Sheffield United as they passed up an opportunity to return to the top of the Premier League table.

There’s no time for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players to feel sorry for themselves, though, with a game against Arsenal at the Emirates to come on Saturday.

The Reds’ following game after their FA Cup tie will be against West Brom on Saturday, February 13 – although this could be changed for TV purposes.

For City, the scheduling gives them an extra day’s rest after what could be a crucial Premier League game against Liverpool on February 7.

Pep Guardiola’s side will then face a quick turnaround before facing Spurs the following weekend on February 13 with a 5.30pm kick-off.
