Man Utd ‘to wait until end of window to make Sancho move’ and more rumours

2 min read

Manchester United are prepared to wait until the final week of the window before finally making their move for Jadon Sancho, according to reports.

After already bringing Donny van de Beek to the club this summer, M.E.N. Sport understands that United are working on up to three more signings before the October 5 deadline.

Although a new left-back is being considered due to uncertainty in the position, attacking signings remain the priority this summer and Borussia Dortmund star Sancho is still the top target.

United are hoping to finally sign the 20-year-old after twice failing in attempts to do so, in 2017 and 2019, and made progress last week in negotiations on his personal terms and agent costs.

However, a deal with Dortmund has yet to be struck with club officials remaining adamant that Sancho will be staying at Signal Iduna Park for at least one more season.

United, meanwhile, are understood to be refusing to meet the Bundesliga side’s €120million valuation in an up-front fee, which has left talks at an impasse.

It’s also why, according to The Transfer Window Podcast, United are prepared to wait until the final week of the transfer window before making their move.

It’s reported that United believe, as Dortmund have no other suitors for Sancho this summer, that they will eventually give in and accept a lower transfer fee for the player.

Such a tactic would depend on Dortmund blinking first, which they have repeatedly claimed will not happen. They are also in a strong position as Sancho’s contract doesn’t expire until 2023 and there could potentially be more challengers for his signature next summer, when they could then sell the player at their valuation.

Elsewhere, United have reportedly identified 31-year-old Ivan Perisic as an alternative to Sancho.

The Croatian World Cup finalist was on United’s radar when Jose Mourinho was in charge of the club and has spent the past season on loan at Bayern Munich, from Inter, impressing as the German side won the treble.

It is claimed by the Express that Perisic is back on United’s shortlist for a potential loan deal if Sancho can’t be signed.
