Man Utd make £50m bid for Jadon Sancho alternative and more rumours

2 min read

Manchester United have reportedly made a move for Fiorentina right-winger Federico Chiesa, as a potential alternative to Jadon Sancho.

Borussia Dortmund winger Sancho is United’s top priority this summer, but MEN Sport understands senior club officials at Old Trafford are unhappy with the German club’s demands.

It is understood United have not agreed personal terms with Sancho’s representatives or a fee with Dortmund, who are believed to be holding out for £108million. United sources believe Dortmund’s August 10 deadline to sign Sancho is ‘meaningless’ and described it as ‘artificial’ since the transfer window closes on October 5.

Now, reports in Italy say United have made a bid for another right winger, Chiesa, as a possible back-up option should the Sancho deal fall through.

La Nazione (via Football Italia) say United have made the first move in the race to sign Chiesa, and have lodged a €55m (£50m) bid.

The report adds Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso is willing to let the winger leave for ‘the right money’. Chiesa, 22, scored ten goals in Serie A this season.

Meanwhile, United could face competition for Gabriel Magalhaes from Premier League rivals Arsenal.

That is according to France Bleu Nord, who say the Lille defender is wanted by Arsenal, and he could cost up to €30m. The report adds Lille have already signed Magalhaes’s replacement – Sven Botman from Ajax.

Previous reports said Magalhaes had emerged as a top target for United, with Ed Woodward said to have met his representatives over the weekend.
