Man Utd injury list and expected return dates after Rashford and Martial updates

3 min read

Manchester United suffered yet another injury to their forward line against AC Milan as Anthony Martial was forced off at half-time.

The Frenchman was replaced by Amad, who scored his first goal for the club following his January switch from Atalanta, as United were held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Martial now joins Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata on the sidelines, leaving Mason Greenwood as United ‘s only fit, senior striker ahead of Sunday’s clash with West Ham.

Ahead of that Premier League clash with the Hammers, here’s a round-up on all the latest injury news from Old Trafford.

Anthony Martial

Martial was forced off at half-time against Milan after falling awkwardly on his hip. The striker is being assessed by Solskjaer ruled him out of Sunday’s game against David Moyes’ side.

What Solskjaer said: “Anthony got a whack on his hip so there’s another forward we need to scan and look at. Unfortunately, he got a whack on his hip quite early in the first half so he couldn’t go on.”

Expected return date: Uknown

Marcus Rashford

Rashford went off injured against Man City after sustaining an ankle injury when tracking back to make a tackle.

Before the Milan match, Solskjaer had hoped Rashford would be fit for Sunday’s match. However, after the game, the United boss admitted he’s unlikely to be available.

What Solskjaer said: “I definitely hope Marcus is back for next Thursday in Milan. I’m not sure he’ll make Sunday but, fingers crossed, as we’ll need him.

Expected return date: March 14

Edinson Cavani

Solskjaer didn’t rule out Cavani from playing a role in Thursday’s 1-1 draw but he was deemed not fit. The Uruguayan will play no part in Sunday’s match either.

What Solskjaer said: “Edinson, I don’t think will be ready for Sunday, no.”

Expected return date: March 15 onwards.

Donny van de Beek

Donny van de Beek has not been part of a United matchday squad since being an unused substitute in their goalless draw with Chelsea on February 28.

Solskjaer last week described the midfielder as a doubt for the Manchester derby but the Dutchman remains on the sidelines with a muscular injury.

Expected return date: Unknown

Paul Pogba

Pogba has missed United’s last nine matches through injury.

The Frenchman hasn’t played since the 3-3 draw with Everton at Old Trafford and his absence in midfield has been significant.

United remain hopeful that Pogba will be fit around the international break and could come back into contention for their match against Leicester City on March 21.

Expected return date: March 21

Juan Mata

Mata is currently out with an unspecified injury and is not expected to be back until the game against West Ham on Sunday at the earliest.

Expected return date: March 14
