Man United vs LASK player ratings: Jesse Lingard and Eric Bailly solid

2 min read

Manchester United needed to come from behind to beat LASK 2-1, booking their spot in the Europa League quarter-finals. Here are the ratings.

Sergio Romero

Made a good first-half save on only his second appearance since the season restarted. Well beaten for the goal. 8

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Solid defensively but his decision-making was amateurish in the final third whenever he got forward. 4

Harry Maguire

Might not thank his manager for selecting him for his 53rd start of the season in such a meaningless match. 6

Eric Bailly

Tried to enliven proceedings with some risky defending against LASK’s intense press. 6

Brandon Williams

Strangely cowed in the final third on a night where the pressure was off. 5

Scott McTominay

Not a convincing audition to supplant Nemanja Matic. Booked and miscontrolled when played in by Fred. 5

Fared better than McTominay on a night that reaffirmed his bench status now Paul Pogba is available. Unlucky to come off. 5

Juan Mata

Tidy without causing LASK any remote harm. Not helped by starting on the right again and barely figured as the 10. Assisted Lingard when used properly. 6

Jesse Lingard

Offered some elegant and probing flicks and claimed his second goal in as many games to equalise before coming off. 7

Daniel James

So one-dimensional he was switched to the opposite flank before the interval. Just terribly out of form. 3

Odion Ighalo

Largely fed off scraps but spurned a decent opening with a heavy touch. Managed United’s first attempt on target. 5

Andreas Pereira

A surprising introduction but bright at times when he got the ball. 6

Paul Pogba

Looked to make things happen. 6

Tahith Chong

Eager, despite the left-back role. 5

Anthony Martial

Scored the winner. 7

Teden Mengi

A deserved debut. 6
