Manchester United are trying to complete a deal to sign Uruguayan teenager Facundo Pellistri on transfer deadline day.
United are still prioritising the addition of a new right winger in the summer transfer window with Penarol teenager Pellistri of interest to the club.
MEN Sport understands discussions are ongoing over a move for the 18-year-old winger over a deal which is thought to be worth in the region of around €10m.
Reports in South America suggest the Uruguayan teenager has already passed a medical to move to Old Trafford, however United insist that is not currently the case.
United have been admirers of the Penarol youngster for well over a year and have regularly tracked his progress during his breakthrough playing in the Uruguayan top flight.
Despite only being a teenager it is believed Pellistri would go straight into the first-team set-up at United with the club well aware of the immediate impact he could make when he is given time to adapt.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have been looking at alternatives to priority target Jadon Sancho in recent weeks with Douglas Costa and Ousmane Dembele both considered as short-term options on loan.
Pellistri made his first-team debut for Penarol last summer after impressing manager, and former United forward, Diego Forlan and has since established himself as a key player for the Uruguayan side.
Pellistri could become the second Uruguayan to sign for United in the summer transfer window with the club close to announcing a deal for free agent Edinson Cavani.
United are also close to announcing a deal for FC Porto left-back Alex Telles as the club look to make up for lost time in the summer transfer window.
