Man United midfielder Pereira pictured in Rome ahead of loan exit

Andreas Pereira has arrived in Rome ahead of his departure from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian midfielder is expected to officially join Italian side Lazio on Friday after agreeing a season-long loan move away from Old Trafford.

Lazio uploaded a video to social media on Thursday evening which showed the United midfielder arriving in Rome before posing with an official club scarf at the airport.

Pereira is on the verge of joining the Serie A club on loan with an option to making the move permanent, with the 24-year-old keen to be playing regular football next season.

The midfielder had been marginalised at United by the arrival of Bruno Fernandes and return to fitness of Paul Pogba after lockdown, with Donny van de Beek’s recent signature the final blow to his immediate first-team chances. Pereira signed a four-year contract last year, which has proven to be prohibitive to a permanent move.

Speaking earlier this week Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi expressed his excitement at the prospect of working with the Belgian-born Brazilian.

“I know him,” Inzaghi confirmed. “He is a quality player who can give us a big helping hand. I don’t want to to talk too much about players who haven’t signed yet.

“We’ll see if he arrives or not.”
