Man United ‘make Federico Chiesa loan enquiry’ and more transfer rumours

2 min read

Manchester United have had an enquiry for Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa pushed back, according to reports.

As transfer deadline day nears it’s understood that United remain in various discussions in order to rescue their window and add to their sole signing of Donny van de Beek.

While the club continues talks with Porto over the transfer of Alex Telles, Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is still the top target ahead of the October 5 international deadline.

The saga has rumbled on throughout the summer but Dortmund have maintained since their deadline of August 10 passed that the 20-year-old would not be leaving this summer, and they are under little pressure to sell as his contract there runs until 2023.

While United haven’t given up on the deal they are adamant that they won’t pay Dortmund’s 120 million euro valuation up front and a number of players have been considered as short-term alternatives – but the club would rather sign one on loan so they can then make another attempt to sign Sancho next summer.

The latest of which, according to The Telegraph, is the highly-rated Chiesa, who impressed with a return of 11 goals and nine assists in Serie A last season.

It’s reported that United made a loan enquiry for the 22-year-old but it was turned down by his club, as they would only be willing to let their prized asset leave in a permanent transfer. It’s added that Juventus are interested in a £45million swoop.

Ousmane Dembele is under consideration as an emergency loan option if they do not manage to get a deal for Sancho over the line.

It was reported by Sky Sports on Wednesday that United are considering making an ‘improved offer’ for Sancho before next week’s deadline.
