Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland is the name at the top of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer wish list – according to reports.
The forward was a target for United in last season’s January transfer window but Haaland opted to move to the Bundesliga.
United opted to sign Odion Ighalo on a six-month loan deal before extending his stay at Old Trafford until January 2021. The Reds added to their forward line this summer, signing Edinson Cavani on a free transfer.
The Athletic report Cavani has made a good impression in his first week at training and will compete with Anthony Martial for a starting berth.
It claims Solskjaer still plans to sign a new forward as part of his long-term vision and Haaland is top of his wish list.
The 20-year-old has a release clause that will allow him to leave Dortmund for £68million in the summer of 2022 but the report claims he could be allowed to leave leave earlier, at a higher price, if he decides he is ready to move on.
Haaland has scored five league goals in five appearances for Dortmund this season.
Elsewhere, reports claim Sergio Romero intends to terminate his contract at the club.
Romero, 33, slipped further down the pecking order following Dean Henderson’s return to Manchester but was unable to find a new club during the summer window.
The Daily Star claim the goalkeeper wants showdown talks over his future and intends to end his current deal early in order to leave on a free.
He is said to be “baffled and angry” at how United have handled his current situation.
