Manchester United have intensified their interest in full back Alex Telles this summer, according to reports in Portuguese media.
News outlet A Bola claim that United have registered a firm interest in the Brazilian left-back from Porto, while Sevilla are also mentioned in the article.
It comes after reports that Real Madrid were ready to offer Sergio Reguilon to United, after the left-back impressed on a season-long loan spell at Sevilla in 2019/20. He starred in the Spanish club’s Europa League semi-final victory over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men in Cologne.
It was previously thought that left-back was not a top priority for United in the transfer window, due to the emergence of Brandon Williams and Luke Shaw’s solid form. But that situation may change with both players suffering injury problems of late.
Elsewhere, it has been reported that United are yet to respond to Roma’s latest offer for centre-back Chris Smalling.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport report that United’s radio silence has affected the confidence in Rome that a permanent deal could be struck for the England international.
Smalling impressed on a season-long loan with the Italian capital club last season and it has been reported that Roma offered €12million plus more in bonuses for the player. United are believed to be holding out for a bigger fee, amid interest from other Serie A sides this summer.
