Here are your Manchester United morning headlines for Monday, 14 September.
Youth signings set to improve standards
As it’s never easy to sign senior players from the biggest clubs in the world, it makes sense to try and obtain the best of their young talent whenever possible.
This theory has certainly been put into action by Manchester United this summer. They have signed players from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, as well as Charlie McNeill from Manchester City.
United have a proud history of promoting from their youth ranks into the senior team. With the cream of the young European crop joining the club in 2020, competition for places at youth level will be sure to intensify. It can only benefit Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first team in the long run.

Neville defends Greenwood
Mason Greenwood has been caught up in two controversial incidents within the past week. After being sent home from international duty for breaching England’s Covid-19 protocols, footage emerged of the 18-year-old inhaling nitrous oxide (which is more commonly known as laughing gas).
While these incidents were clearly errors of judgment on Greenwood’s part, Gary Neville was quick to defend the United youngster when he was asked about him on Sky Sports yesterday. The former United full-back questioned if Greenwood was being victimised by the media.
“I feel like this morning’s story off the back of last week, he’s a young boy, it takes it into a place where I begin to get a little discomfort,” he said.
Reguilon off the table for United?
Manchester United have first-hand experience of how effective Sergio Reguilon can be.
The Real Madrid left-back spent last season on loan with Sevilla, and was part of their team which won the Europa League. The 23-year-old assisted a goal for former Liverpool winger Suso when the Spanish side defeated United in the semi-finals.
Solskjaer must have been impressed with what he saw, as it has been reported that United are interested in signing the Spaniard. However, according to AS, Reguilon would rather return to Sevilla on loan for 2020/21, so as not to jeopardise his chances of breaking through with Real.
