Man United ‘cool’ interest in Erling Haaland and more transfer gossip

2 min read

Manchester United have ‘cooled’ their interest in Erling Haaland, according to ESPN.

The MEN revealed last month United had settled on Haaland as their transfer priority this summer, although now reports suggest Mino Raiola’s public transfer roadshow of his client last week may have dwindled the Reds’ interest.

Regardless of that parade, it’s also been reported Borrusia Dortmund value Haaland at £150m and such a substantial fee for one player would surely deplete Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s war chest.

Despite this, United remain open to a move for Haaland, although they do recognise his enormous price-tag and relationship with superagent Raiola – who also represents Paul Pogba – is from ideal.

Sources claim it was ‘no surprise’ to see Raiola tour Europe in order to discuss Haaland’s future. Working with the infamous negotiator has caused United headaches in the past and it would be understandable if club officials were wary of such a deal.

While United are in the market for a centre-forward, they’re also reportedly considering signing left-back Nuno Mendes despite being already well stocked up in that position with Luke Shaw and Alex Telles.

Portuguese newspaper Record alleges United have entered the race for the highly-rated 18-year-old, who has attracted interest from Europe’s most elite sides, including Barcelona and Manchester City, with his excellent performances this season.

The possibility of a swap deal involving Telles to acquire Mendes has been suggested, although the article claims a decision on the Sporting Lisbon youngster’s future won’t be made until the end of the campaign.
